As the tides of editorial staff and contributors at Professional BoatBuilder ebbed and flowed through my two decades with the magazine, I’ve been grateful that one of the constants in our lineup is Technical Editor Steve D’Antonio. In the publishing world, where judgement and depth of experience matter, Steve excels at both.
That’s why he’s my last consult at the end of any trade show we attend together. He walks the floor tirelessly, speaking knowledgeably with vendors and his fellow boatbuilding attendees searching for answers to questions they may not even know they have. His interest in a new material or technology is a bellwether, not just for what’s hot and buzzy, but for what might have real staying power and a legitimate enduring role in the industry. He has an uncanny ability to differentiate quality and true innovation from among a sea of merely adequate or clever products, which has served me and ProBoat readers well.
